As you are aware the snowpack conditions this year are at historic lows. The Uncompahgre Basin's snowpack is currently ranked as the worst year on record at both key measuring stations. Forecast models indicate we will receive unprecedented low levels of natural flow in the Uncompahgre and Gunnison Basins. For this reason, we will begin our season delivering 50% of our allocation to shareholders. This could change up or down depending on future precipitation and forecast models. If future models stay consistent, we will see reductions to 40%. UVWUA’s goal is to maintain storage in Ridgway Reservoir until mid-July to help support peak season demands.
If you are not using the water for production agriculture (i.e. lawn and garden), we encourage you to practice conservation measures whenever possible and minimize or curtail non-essential watering.
All pump contracts for the irrigation year will be suspended due to the reduced allocation. Contract holders will be given the option of a credit for 2027 or a refund. If a refund is issued and you apply for a pump contract next year you will need to re-submit a new application and filing fee.
UVWUA will provide updates and system notices on our website to keep shareholders informed of our delivery allocations and system repairs.

Shareholders pumping directly from a UVWUA Canal or Lateral will be required to register their pumps if not already recorded and install meters suitable for measuring their shares and regulating valves for percentage allocation deliveries. ** if you are pumping from a private lateral UVWUA will not require metering.
